Waranaivalu shines as Tahiti United edge Bula FC in OFC Pro League Clash

FIJIAN football international and Tahiti United midfielder Tevita Waranaivalu delivered a standout performance against Bula FC, helping his side secure a narrow 1–0 victory in their OFC Professional League encounter.

Waranaivalu was pivotal in the middle of the park, effectively neutralising Bula FC’s attacking threats while dictating the tempo of the match. His commanding presence and composure earned him the Player of the Match award.

The experienced midfielder, who was not considered by Bula FC for the OFC Professional League, said he still has plenty to offer the game.

“I’m enjoying every moment on the pitch,” Waranaivalu said, as he continues to make the most of his opportunities with Tahiti United.

Speaking to SportsOne, Waranaivalu praised his teammates for their collective effort and unity on the field.

“The team knew who I was up against, we made a game, and it feels good to have won,” he said. “Everyone played for one another and as a team.”

Tahiti United’s faith in the Fijian footballer has been evident, backing a player who previously coached Rewa to quadruple success, including the 2025 FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), 2025 Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC), 2024/2025 Digicel Fiji Premier League (DFPL) title, and the 2025 Pacific Community Cup.

Meanwhile, Bula FC head coach Stéphane Auvray acknowledged his side’s struggles in front of goal, despite another solid defensive display.

“At the end of the day it’s all about scoring,” Auvray said. “We would have more points, but at the moment it’s not happening. My biggest concern for the players is to kill the game.”

He reaffirmed that Bula FC remain difficult to break down, with their defensive structure continuing to hold firm.

“The team has been consistent in its approach and has been playing well,” Auvray added. “The team deserves more. It will come, it’s just a matter of time.”
