NADI has put last year’s match-fixing controversy behind them in emphatic fashion, clinching the Muslim Interdistrict Championship with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Drasa.
The side looked composed and purposeful throughout the tournament, with William Valentine orchestrating play from midfield.
His control and vision ensured Nadi maintained structure and tempo in crucial moments.
The decisive goal came in the 39th minute when Razik Buksh capitalised on a set piece.
A well-delivered ball into space by Valentine allowed Buksh to pounce and slot home what proved to be the match-winner.
Nadi had previously secured back-to-back IDC titles in 2023 and 2024 but missed out last year amid allegations of match-fixing.
It was claimed that Nadi, along with Sabeto, influenced a result to deny Maigania a place in the quarterfinals.
While Nadi strongly denied the accusations, the Fiji Muslim Sports Association (FMSA) upheld its decision to suspend both teams.
Initially, only Sabeto faced sanctions, but upon further review and consideration of the evidence, the ruling was revised to include Nadi as an equal participant.
This latest triumph marks a significant comeback for Nadi, signalling both resilience and a renewed focus on success on the field.
