Fiji Allstars eye strong Nations Cup campaign

THE Fiji Allstars are heading into the Nations Cup with confidence and optimism.

The side boasts a balanced mix of experienced campaigners, exciting youngsters, and debutants eager to showcase their talents in one of Western Canada’s premier annual amateur football tournaments in Richmond.

Coaches Neil Adrakar and Binnu Tezram have been hard at work sharpening the squad’s tactical and technical approach, with an emphasis on style, discipline, and creativity as they prepare to meet the challenges ahead.

Team officials believe the blend of youth and experience will be key to their campaign, with players determined to represent the Fijian community proudly both on and off the field.

“We have been working with the team, the players are responding well to the training and know what they will be up against in the coming days,” said Adrakar.

Last year, under Adrakar’s guidance, the team won two matches and lost one, a remarkable feat considering the stiff competition they faced throughout the tournament.

He said with a strong core of returning players, he expects an improved performance from the current squad.

“We managed to rope in players who played with us last year. We did well under the circumstances, and we will try to do even better this time around,” he said.

“Binnu and I have a structure in place, and we expect the team to follow it through. The results will come.

“Football is a team sport — everyone has to work hard and believe in one another.”

Adrakar added that confidence builds character, and the spirit within the camp remains strong ahead of the tournament.
