FOR Fijian footballer Roy Krishna home is where the heart is.
Widely regarded as one of Fiji’s greatest footballers, Krishna has enjoyed a remarkable professional career spanning Australia- New Zealand, India and the international stage.
He reached a career high when he won the Johnny Warren Medal as the A-League’s Player of the Year with Wellington Phoenix in the 2018–19 season.
After playing out his contract with Wellington Phoenix, Krishna signed with ATK, Mohun Bagan (later ATK Mohun Bagan), Bengaluru FC, Odisha FC and Malappuram FC.
He became Bula FC’s first marquee signing ahead of the inaugural OFC Professional League in 2025.
Following the completion of Bula FC season, he dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Ba.
Masters debut
Earlier this month, Krishna featured for Fiji Nasinu at the AUFFI Australian International Masters 2026 tournament in Brisbane.
The team won the 35s division, and Krishna won the Golden Ball award.
“I felt good playing with his former national and district teammates and connecting with Fijian football fans in Brisbane,” he said.
Back to where it started
Krishna is playing in a culturural football in his hometown, Labasa, where his football talent was recognized.
He is leading Siberia Emily Sanatan in the Labasa Sanatan Tournament, marking his debut in a local football competition.
The decision is a fitting tribute to his northern roots.
Krishna has long spoken about the Labasa influence on his football journey and the mentors who nurtured his talent during his formative years.
For Krishna, this is more than just another tournament.
It is a homecoming and giving back to the community that helped shape his footballing career.
