CANADA All Stars U16 drew 1–1 against Auckland All Stars in their Pacific Cup debut in New Zealand.
The Canadians played with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm, showing early that they had come prepared for the big stage.
Ariyan Adrakar found the breakthrough in the 29th minute, capping off a well-worked move that highlighted the team’s growing confidence.
Co-coach Neil Adrakar said the team will take the positives from the opening match and build on them as the tournament progresses.
“The boys quickly gelled as a team,” Adrakar said.
“For the second game, we will stay a bit compact in our defensive shape and attack when the chance arises.”
The key now is improving the decision-making in the final third and maintaining focus for the full 60 minutes.
Despite conceding a first half goal, the Canadian side walked away encouraged by their structure, discipline, and composure under pressure.
The coaching staff praised the squad’s ability to adjust on the fly, noting that the debut experience will serve them well.
As they prepare for their next fixture, the Canada U16 All Stars know the margins will only get tighter but so will their belief.
The coaches and players are confident that with sharper execution, they can convert their promising start into a meaningful run at the Pacific Cup.
