Suva mourn star Singh

Michael(Mikey) SinghMICHAEL Vijay Dip Singh (Mikey), the man often described as Suva’s deadliest left footer, died Thursday at age 55.

Richard Singh, Mikey’s brother confirmed his death to Sportsone.

A short statement said: “We are devastated, can’t believe he is gone. I always wanted to be like my older brother, play and just be like him”.

Mikey was a member of Suva’s dynamic and back to back, 88-89 Inter District Championship and the 89′ Battle of the Giants team.

Footballing foes but friend, Subarmani Reddy said there aren’t many images of Suva footballers more iconic than that of Micky.

“Mikey was an amazing player, a brick wall of a left footer”, said the former Nadi captain.

He hammered home most emphatic of finishes.

Football will never get to see a player of his caliber in this life time, a true servant of the Suva and Marist FC, condolences to the Singh family on behalf of the Nadi Alumni, Rest in Peace brother”.

Funeral announcement will be made later.
