FORMER Fijian Soccer League of Greater Vancouver president Harry Gopal has died at the age of 71.
Harry had been in ill health for quite some time and was housed at the Morgan Creek Care home in Surrey.
He headed the FSLGV for over 15 years.
FSLGV president Nadraj Nair paid tribute to Harry.
“I’m heartbroken at the news of Harry’s passing away”, said Nair.
“He contributed a lot for football.
“The football community today lost a great individual who had the passion for the sport”.
Nair said he kept in close contact with Harry who relinquished his leadership over ill health in 2013.
“It’s sad that I couldn’t visit him in the last few weeks because of the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, otherwise it was a regular visit. It was always a hearty meeting”.
Nair said the FSLGV are deeply saddened by the passing of Harry Gopal.
“I on behalf of the league would like to express my sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones”.
Funeral arrangements are being made and will be announced on a later date.
