Give Mocenacagi a chance: Fans

A COALITION of sevens fans have taken to social media to convince national sevens coach Gareth Baber to consider giving Sevuloni Mocenacagi a second chance in the national squad.

Mocenacagi was dropped over recurring indiscipline during the Fiji Rugby Super 7’s Series.

His contract was also terminated by the governing body.

In solidarity, the fervent believe the star player needs to be given a second in the team that is hard preparing to defend the Olympic Games gold medal in 2021 Tokyo, Japan in July.

Mocenacagi was glorified for contributions to the national team and the country.

He is described as a magnificent athlete who blends speed, power, and work rate in equal quantities.

Lemeli Ledua said Mocenacagi is one of his favorite player’s in 7s rugby, ‘Please give him a chance to play again for Fiji’.

Josua Balemil said ‘Lesson to learn, he used to play like that in games held at Lawaqa Park.

“The kind of cheers from his supporters sometimes gave him a kind of spirit that easily allows him to forget to maintain his discipline, it’s not the end of the World. Our hearts are always with Sevu”.

Shafeel Sahib said Mocenacagi’s unerring service surely deserves a second chance.

He said he (Mocenacagi) mixes withering physicality with sublime skills in equal measure.

“One more chance can change the trajectory of not only a life, but an entire team, maybe offer anger management counselling”.

Mark Sorby said he is hopeful Mocenacagi will be allowed to come back into the team.

“If he can demonstrate he has learned from his mistakes and he keeps up his awesome form”, said Mark, and like him thousands want Baber to reconsider Mocenacagi for the national squad.

Former Olympic Games gold medal winning coach Ben Ryan and captain Osea Kolinisau believe the star player’s inclusion will strengthen the Olympic Games campaign.

“I hope he will find a way back into the team”, said Ryan.

Kolinisau rated Mocenacagi as a world class player, who would make any Olympic team.

“Sevu is a complete sevens player”.

The duo called for calmer heads to prevail.

Mocenacagi was suspended for twelve games after he was red-carded twice in the first leg of the Fiji Rugby Super 7’s Series at Lawaqa Park.

He has since apologized to the nation, the FRU and the fans for his unsportsmanlike conduct.
