VANCOUVER will host the return of the HSBC World Rugby Series Canada Sevens in September.
The City of Vancouver is working with provincial health authorities, Rugby Canada, BC Place, and other partners to ensure the event is safe for all attendees and participants, and meets COVID-19 requirements.
Mayor Kennedy Stewart said the City of Vancouver is proud to welcome the HSBC Canada Sevens back to town.
He said the ‘Sevens’ return is a testament to Vancouver’s world-leading response to the pandemic and shows that, ‘We’re ready to safely host world-class events, as we restart our city under provincial health guidelines.”
“We are supporting the safe and gradual return of world-class sport events in Vancouver as we move through BC’s Restart plan”.
Michelle Collens, manager of Sport Hosting Vancouver said sport events are a key contributor to Vancouver’s hospitality and tourism industries, which have been heavily impacted by the pandemic.
“We are working closely with our partners to deliver safe, memorable experiences for everyone and contribute to our local economy.”
Tournament details, including stadium capacity, are being finalized. More information will be available prior to public ticket sales (scheduled for early August).
