NADI beat Ba 1-0 in the Fijian Soccer Association of Southern Alberta Inter District Championship final at Rotary Park Stadium in Calgary on Sunday.
Nadi’s winning goal came in the 10th minute of the second extra spell after Avinesh Goundar set up Joeli Ratudradra who clinically finished it.
The ‘Green Machine’ had piled on pressure from the start of the game, but Ba’s good defensive tactics thwarted near goal scoring chances.
Nadi coach Raj Dayal said his team played quality football throughout the tournament and the victory is for the district fans to savour in the face of an ongoing pandemic.
“Impeccable performance”, said Raj.
“Everyone represented the district with pure excellence”.
Raj said Nadi is a proven champion in Calgary, winning a quadruple IDC titles in a row, 2017,2018, 2019 and 2021.
“There was no tournament in 2020, due to the suspension of all sporting events to COVID-19 pandemic”.
Nadi maintained a clean sheet with pool game wins over Lautoka 4-1, Rewa 2-1 and Nadroga 1-0 in the semifinals.
Nadi’s Renald Kumar was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Fijian Soccer Association of Southern Alberta IDC.
