ANOTHER football season kick starts tomorrow, with more of the same.
And while all the hoopla surrounds the veterans league, the Fijian League has yet again finds itself unable to rejuvenate the premier football.
What was once the premier footballing show, competitive and community involved, has died for good.
The last time a premier division game was played was in 2017, a good 5 years and counting, and since all the focus has been put on veterans games.
FAILURE
The failure to get the premier football league started solely rested on the hierarchy who failed.
The top, down of the league need to take a stock of their performance and of all things, cue in ‘defunct’ and mirror their positions.
The success of any organization rests on the people, who are willing to work with the teams, and create friendly policies.
NO FUTURE
There’s no future for youth players of the community, who find themselves juggling teams to play in outside leagues.
But come the Nations Cup, the premier most footballing event of the inheritance, they’re pestered to represent Fiji.
For many, respect for roots, less loyalty to governance brings them to represent.
Our youngsters, up and coming footballers deserve better, they need a league they can call their own.
VETERANS
With all due respect to the veterans, who have contributed immensely to the sport over the years don’t need an organized league to act as ‘brothers keepers’ to play the game.
These footballers have given their times, earned the respect of fans and if anything they play to keep fit more than anything else.
For them its about burning a few ounces of lipids and staying healthy.
RESPECT
The footballing community should celebrate the achievements of the group and individuals that kept the sport alive.
The veterans stood defiant, shed blood, sweat and have put in good time to haul victories during their days.
Much respect.
MOVE ON
Let’s get the trampled powers that be, murky and unchanged make way for football to be successful.
Football deserves better.
