SABETO FC recorded their first ever NAFSA-CANAM championship win with a 5-2 routing of Flagstaff at the North Surrey Oval.
Sabeto’s victory against Vancouver nemesis came on the back of tenacity and hard work.
The team fully deserved the championship where it displayed sublime football.
Idris Najim scored early to put Sabeto in front, Sahil Khan doubled the lead for a 2-1 first half lead
Isaac scored two goals in the second half and Yasin’s goal obliterated Flagstaff.
Sabeto’s first ever win buoyed the players and fans’ mood.
Defender Rakim Ali, who is the chip of the old block, his father, Jan Ali won the same tournament in 1992 with Richmond Rangers.
“I’m so proud of the boys, the historic win is attributed to the players, coaches and the fans,” said Rakim.
“The team gave their all during the tournament. “We believed in each other, and as a team. Great performance.”
The wet underfoot only helped Sabeto script the historic win.
