The buck stops in Vancouver: Chand

UMESH Chand is seemingly unfazed with all the criticism surrounding the Fiji Airways men’s 7s failed podium run.

The diehard fan said the team needs to understand that failure paves the way to success and Vancouver could well be the lucky charm.

He said sports commentators and fans online had some strong feelings about the team and head coach Ben Gollings, added he’s a believer.

“A lot of criticism on both social and mainstream media, it’s out of frustration that’s all to it,” said Chand, who hasn’t missed the event since 2016.

“I’m holding hope on the team to turn things around.”

Chand said if 17 tournament losses is a record then records are only made to be broken come Canada Sevens.

“Fans are disappointed, emotions running high. We lose the series than the Olympics.

“The buck stop in Vancouver,” said Chand.

The Canada Sevens will be played at the BC.Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada, Friday, February 23 – Sunday February 25
