THE FANCA Muslim tournament brawl blame lies squarely on FANCA Federation.
The Churchill Park turned into chaos during the Australia and USA game, as players’ involvement made it a free for all brawl.
A retired Policeman, who was in the stands said the rival feud wouldn’t have escalated had there been more security forces at the park.
Speaking to Sportsone under the condition of anonymity, he blamed the FANCA Federation for the chaos.
“With a tournament of FANCA’s magnitude, the organizers need to dispatch security details at all times,” he said.
“It all comes down to arrangement, and communication is very important.
“Police and security officers should have diffused the situation and or walked the instigators off the stand and situation would have been contained.
“The far and few that were there did their all to de-escalate but were short handed, I ask where were the FANCA officials, the prominent of the association”.
FANCA tournament was birthed in Vancouver in 1997, on the parallels of unifying Fijian Muslims, it has become anything but fierce competition and much has to do with those who run the organization.
“Every nation looks at winning, less holding on to the visions of the pioneers who used football as a means to extend brotherhood, foster love and unity.”
Australia and the USA teams were expelled from further participation in the tournament.
“There were mothers, children and elderly, someone could have got seriously injured. So much for fancy speeches, and positions, put resources on safety and security,” said the former Policeman.
He said with the ever growing event, people in the thousands turn up including athletes and that calls for more Police and security officers.
“I urge the leaders to step up in times of adversity, not be an audience for what befalls.”
