ADDLYN Rose’s age doesn’t define her capabilities and desire to play the sport she loves.
The 60-year-old mother and grandmother is a fierce netball competitor and a stand-out player.
Rose, a goal shooter, helped Lautoka Veteran (over 45) beat Ba 4-2 in Sunday’s grand finale of the TISI Sangan Convention tournament in Ba.
“I’m a young 60-year-old mother, a grandmother and a netball player, I find it a breeze playing with much younger players on the team and it’s fun,” said Rose.
“We didn’t not only represent Lautoka but all mothers and grandmothers of the country.”
Rose has been playing netball for over 4 decades and since the introduction of the sport in the Sangam Convention tournament, she has been regularly representing the Lautoka TISI age group teams.
“I’ve been playing and winning tournaments for years,” she said.
“When you are in the good company of women who share same passion and desire, impossible is nothing.
“We have a good team. My teammates are mothers and grandmothers who refuse to age.”
Rose says retirement isn’t an option as she has years of netball ahead of her.
“Retirement is for quitters, I ain’t one.”
Rose encourages women, mothers, and grandmothers to get involved in sports of their choice, stay healthy, and live out their dreams.
“Don’t let a number limit your dreams or aspirations,” Rose said.
