WASIM and Javid Khan have a trophy trove reminder of their contribution to Nadi FC.
The duo have been the mainstay for the district and know what it takes to win championships.
Their calling for the 2025 Battle of the Giants puts the team in good stead as a top contender for the weekend tournament.
The tandem are in a perfect mix of experienced and youngsters, who look to win their first major title.
And the last time the Khan’s celebrated winning the BOG championship was in 2011.
“It has been a long time since we won the BOG, I can’t even remember the year,” Wasim said.
Wasim won Golden Glove and Javid was the tournament MVP.
Javid was the protagonist and with the two, the district won the first treble IDC, in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and repeated in 2011, 2012, 2013 and backed it with a double in 2016 -2017.
“We had a dream team back then,” said Wasim Khan.
Wasim said majority of the players for the weekend tournament represent Eagles FC, who have come off a stellar Muslim League season.
“We played the first Fijian League game last Sunday, with a 2-0 win against Civic Lions.”
Nadi is drawn with Edmonton Ba and Nadroga, with the opening game against Edmonton Ba for 9am at McLeod Athletic Park.
