Siblings Reunite in Lautoka After 40 Years

The Ali Jan siblings gathered in Lautoka for a heartfelt reunion, reconnecting after more than four decades apart.

It was more than just a meeting—it was a celebration of family bonds, a chance to relive treasured memories, and an opportunity to create new ones.

The Ali Jan children—daughters Nur Jahan, Saira Khatoon, Simbul Khatoon, and Amina Bibi, along with sons Nur Mohammed, Inayat Ali, and Asuad Ali—traveled from Australia, New Zealand, and Canada to be part of the gathering.

“We wanted to reconnect, share moments, and reminisce,” said Inayat Ali.

Now aged between 62 and 86, the siblings described the reunion as both overwhelming and deeply emotional. With age and health challenges catching up, they reflected on the growing importance of such family occasions.

“We can’t turn back time, but we can relish moments and move forward with hope for many more reunions in the years ahead,” Ali said.

The Ali roots run deep in Nasau, Nadi, but through marriage and migration, the family has spread across Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

This reunion reaffirmed that no matter the distance, home is where family comes together.

“Of all the uncles and an aunt, to have all seven of us together—we are blessed. God is good,” Inayat added.

“1985 is when we had all seven siblings come together during our nieces wedding.

“40-years is long time coming.”
