Krishna and Afazal score in Bula FC loss

BELIEVING in the long-term development of football while remaining competitive should be the focus of Bula FC.

With seven changes to the starting lineup against South Melbourne FC, the team was outplayed in every facet of the game.

The 4-2 loss, isn’t the result coach Stephane Auvray had expected, but football can often turn on the unpredictable bounce of a ball.

Auvray had emphasized the need to give his bench players game time while resting the regulars, While development remains part of his philosophy, the team lacked the intensity and fight needed against a more aggressive South Melbourne outfit.

With several changes in the second half, Bula FC took the game to the Australian side.

Roy Krishna was the live wire, looking dangerously good on every touch of the ball.

The deadly marksman would get his goal not long after, reacting first to a saved Nabil Begg effort in the box to tap home from close range and reduce the deficit to 4-2.

Ibraheem AFAZAL scored his first OFC Pro League goal, luring on a Christopher Wasasala cross and rounding Javier Diaz Lopez for an equalizer.

Bula FC has now lost all of its pool matches and is likely headed for the fourth-place playoff, but the bigger picture may still outweigh the immediate results.
