FORMER footballers from around the country joined family and friends to pay their respects to Henry Dyer following his passing in Nadi at the age of 63.

Dyer enjoyed a distinguished career spanning over a decade, after making his debut for Nadi FC in 1980 at the age of 22.

One of the defining periods of his career was in 1982 and 1985 when Nadi FC faced Ba FC in the grand final of the Inter District Championship at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.

The game ended in a draw after 140 minutes, and after 11- penalties each to produce a winner, the game was declared a no-contest.

In 1985 he was a star player in the national team that beat Newcastle United 3-0 at Prince Charles Park.

Dyer was also a part of the national Fiji team for the 1983 South Pacific Games where Fiji won the silver medal.
