A rugby sevens fan who was caught in between loyalty and love has made a decision that didn’t come down easy he says.
Ronald Singh a Fiji born Canadian, loves the land of the free but come rugby it is all about loyalty.
And today when Canada takes on Fiji in the Cup-quarterfinals of the Hamilton Sevens, Ronald will be rooting for Fiji 7s, his former countrymen.
“Fiji it is”, he said. “I know I have made a few of my loved ones unhappy at home but then again I’ve made a few wear that big Fijian smile with my decision”.
“Whenever Canada is up against Fiji, the decision is tough”.
He says there’s no place like home, Canada and all the great things it offers, adds, sevens rugby draws an unprecedented Fijian praise world over and it is what have him recognised in Canada.
“Fijian are best known for rugby. I’m a Fijian first”, said Ronald.
“And that much more when it comes to Hockey, the Canadian sport and we are world’s best”.
Ronald said after Fiji’s scintillating day one form, the Canada match will be one sided affair.
Canada has had mixed results leading up to the Cup- quarterfinals, a huge loss, a draw and a win.
Canada got thumped 49-10 by New Zealand, drew 12 all against Spain and won its final match against Japan 26-0.
“How about if I wear one half red and the half white to show my appreciation to both the teams”, Ronald said with a smirk.
“No, I will follow my heart on this one. Fiji all the way”.
Canada faces Fiji at (5:36 p.m. ET).
