And obviously it is due to the Covid-19 restrictions put in place by the health authorities.

But against the travel and large gathering restrictions, the essence of the festivities remained just as celebratory, with the spirits ever endearing.

The stay-home approach has had the athletes spend their quality time with those dear and near.

Among the hordes were the Canadian Fijian footballers’ Nicholas Prasad and Rylan Sangha, who had a quite Christmas this year compared to previous years.

The duo admitted the year had been tough as the rising coronavirus cases has brought the world down on its knees and impacted the daily lives.

Prasad, who plays football for Bischofswerdaer FV 08 in Germany said he is glad to be home to celebrate Christmas with the loved ones.

“Thank God, my family and I are able to spend the holidays together in Vancouver”.

“It is truly a blessing to have face to face interaction, I’m cherishing every moment”.

Rylan said the year had been crazy with so much focus on the Covid 19 pandemic.

He had a quiet Christmas with the family.

“Enjoying the holidays amidst a crazy year and wishing everyone the best for 2021 as we hopefully try to move on from this pandemic”.

The footballers are hoping the New Year will spring in good tidings.
