Fiji’s Honorary Consul to Canada, Bobby Naicker has called on Fijians in Canada to rally behind Fiji rugby sevens men’s and women’s teams during the HSBC SVNS Canada Sevens.
“Let’s rally behind our teams and celebrate the unity, pride, and joy that rugby brings to our nation.
“We may be small in size, but through our rugby teams, we continue to show the world that Fiji excels against all odds,” he said
Naicker says Fijians are filled with immense pride as the country’s national rugby sevens teams, both men’s and women’s prepare to compete once again in the HSBC SVNS circuit.
“Our beloved Fiji may be a small island nation, but we continue to shine among giants, demonstrating that heart, dedication, and the spirit of teamwork can achieve greatness.”
Naicker said it is an absolute honour to receive the national team in Canada and make them feel home away from home.
“Over the past few days, I had the privilege of hosting both our men’s and women’s teams for dinner, and what stood out to me was their humility, grace, and unwavering dedication to representing Fiji with honour,” he said.
“Despite their global success, they remain grounded, humble ambassadors of our nation, carrying the weight of our hopes and dreams with them on every pitch they step onto.
“Their pride in wearing the Fijian jersey is palpable, and in turn, they make us incredibly proud to be Fijians.”
Naicker said Fijians look forward to Canada Sevens, adding it is important to recognize that the athletes are not just playing a game but showcasing the best of Fiji.
“They carry the values of respect, camaraderie, and resilience that define us as Fijian.
“Rugby is a sport that unites us as people, and watching our men consistently deliver exceptional performances fills us with pride and joy.
“Let’s support our men and women’s teams,” he said.
