EDMONTON Rangers successfully defended its Dulari Cup title, defeated Combine Brothers 2-1 after extra time in a thrilling final to claim back-to-back championships.
Bula FC defender Sterling Vasconcellos played a pivotal role throughout the tournament for the Rangers, using his professional experience to help control the tempo of the team’s play.
Speaking to SportsOne after the final, Vasconcellos credited the team’s unity for the victory.
“We played as a team. Everyone gave their all throughout the tournament,” he said.
Vasconcellos said Edmonton Rangers possess quality players and believes the club has what it takes to continue achieving success against top opposition.
“For a Fijian team, Edmonton Rangers have some very talented players.”
Vasconcellos said he gained a lot of experience playing outside of Fiji, and with players who have lot of skills, understand the game and are winners.
“I gained a lot of experience playing alongside them,” he said.
He dedicated the triumph to the club’s supporters and community.
“This win is for all Edmontonians,” he added.
