THE Sanju family has thrown its support behind this weekend’s Dulari Cup, donating $5,000 in sponsorship for the tournament at Newton Athletic Park.
The contribution also includes several individual awards, that has been made by Anman Sanju in memory of his late father, Ram Sanju, and brother, Raman Sanju.
Anman said the sponsorship was a fitting tribute to two men whose love for football left a lasting legacy.
“My father, was a former Navua representative player of the 1960s, while my brother was equally passionate footballer, manager and coach, so it’s only fitting that I put the money where they would have wanted it,” he said.
Anman believes the Dulari Cup has established itself as one of the premier Fijian football tournaments in North America.
“The Dulari Cup is turning out to be the Fijian tournament between Canada and the USA,” he said.
“It has the teams, the fan following, and the potential to grow by leaps and bounds.”
Anman said his father, Ram, was a firm believer in community football and its development, always supporting initiatives that helped the game grow.
Raman was also a well-known figure in the Fijian football fraternity.
For over three decades he managed Fiji Saints in the local league, making a significant contribution to the sport.
The Fiji Saints, will play in the Masters Division, dedicating the tournament appearance in memory of Ram and Raman Sanju.
The Sanju family’s sponsorship is expected to add further prestige to this year’s Dulari Cup, one of the biggest annual gatherings of Fijian football talent from Canada, the United States of America and New Zealand.
